“Please register for my webinar!” – Top Tips for creating registration pages that work!

Whenever I used to send out a birthday invitation there was always that little nagging voice inside my head repeating… “What if no-one R.S.V.P’s, what will you do?

I now know that in order to prevent this from happening I have to a) invite the right people and b) make it easy for them to R.S.V.P.

This should also hold true when sending out webinar invitations. You may be targeting the right audience but, are you making it too difficult for people to register and therefore missing out on potential attendees?

Here are my tops tips for creating registration pages that get results!

1)    You only need the basics!

These days, people are time poor and looking for the easy, simple way to do things. When asking people to register for your event, keep it simple and only ask them to complete the basics.

Remember, you can always capture additional information throughout the webinar, through the use ofpolling; or after the webinar, through the use of a feedback survey.

2)    Dropdowns work wonders!

Have you ever asked people to specify their industry in an open text field only to receive a huge amount of variations? Using dropdown fields not only keeps all data consistent, it makes it that much easier and quicker for people to complete your form; and that can only be a good thing right?

3)    YOU’RE THE VOICE!

We all know that interactivity and engagement can take your webinars to the next level, so why not start here? Ask your registrants “what are you hoping to gain from this webinar” or better yet, give them a choice of four topics and ask them what they would like you to focus on throughout the presentation.

This will give them a voice, increase the level of engagement and will allow you (or your presenter) to give the people what they want!

4)    I’ve done it – now what?

Once your registrants complete their details and click on the submit button they are waiting to see what happens next – don’t waste this opportunity. If your software allows, consider redirecting people to your website, an upcoming events page or a strong call to action.

My advice is to also take this chance to tell people what happens next, for example “You will shortly receive an email containing details on how to access the webinar.” – Remember, people don’t like being left in the dark.
